A Dickson City man faces assault charges in two cases after his girlfriend reported to police he attacked her twice during the weekend. A federal jury awarded $250,000 to an East Stroudsburg man who alleged police used excessive force in arresting him after he got into a dispute with another man over a parking space at the Scranton State Office Building.

An intoxicated driver fatally struck a pedestrian and then kept going without stopping or calling 911 Saturday in Wayne County, state police said. April Lyn Porreca, 31, of Greentown, is charged with vehicular homicide while driving under the influence and other offenses in the death of Daniel Gregorsky, 35, of Moscow, which occurred between 2 and 4 a.m. Saturday on Spudeno Road near J and J Road in Salem Township.

A $100 million bridge project along Interstate 84 and the $24.75 million Elmhurst Dam renovation could revive a 13-year-old plan to create a rail trail through the North Pocono area – even if it takes a while. The North Pocono Rotary Club, Lackawanna River Corridor Association and Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority spearheaded a feasibility study in 2004 to create the North Pocono Greenway Trail along 10-plus miles of conservation land Lackawanna County bought in 1980.
