DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa.- Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced felony charges against a Scranton doctor for over-prescribing 17,504 Oxycodone pills to two patients over a two-year period. Dr. Louis Adamo, 60, of Whitetail Run, Moscow, prescribed 9,540 Oxycodone tablets to Brett Nachand between August 2014 and March 2016.

Ruling in area case to affect child sex abuse prosecutions statewide

In a decision that will impact child rape cases statewide, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court upheld a ruling that granted a new trial to a Lackawanna County man who challenged the admission of expert testimony. The 4-2 ruling in the case of Kenneth Maconeghy will impact prosecutors' ability to present certain expert testimony in cases where there is no physical evidence an assault occurred.

A Dickson City man faces assault charges in two cases after his girlfriend reported to police he attacked her twice during the weekend. An intoxicated driver fatally struck a pedestrian and then kept going without stopping or calling 911 Saturday in Wayne County, state police said. April Lyn Porreca, 31, of Greentown, is charged with vehicular homicide while driving under the influence and other offenses in the death of Daniel Gregorsky, 35, of Moscow, which occurred between 2 and 4 a.m. Saturday on Spudeno Road near J and J Road in Salem Township.
